Discover Maharaja Of India

When you step into Maharaja Of India on 19A Charing Cross Rd, London WC2H 0ET, you're not just entering a restaurant-you're stepping into a rich, flavorful journey that transports you to the heart of India. Known for its aromatic spices, vibrant colors, and a menu packed with authentic dishes, this restaurant has become a favorite for both locals and tourists alike.

The moment you walk in, the atmosphere welcomes you with its warm and inviting decor. The staff greets you with a genuine smile, and the ambiance sets the perfect tone for what’s to come. Whether you’re looking for a cozy dinner with friends, a romantic night out, or simply craving a taste of Indian cuisine, Maharaja Of India provides an experience that never disappoints.

The menu at Maharaja Of India is a treasure trove of traditional Indian flavors with a modern twist. From the famous buttery naan to the fiery vindaloo, every dish is crafted with precision and passion. The star of the show, however, is their butter chicken-a smooth, creamy delight that has won the hearts of many. If you're in the mood for something more daring, their lamb rogan josh offers a rich, tender bite that packs a flavorful punch.

What makes this place truly exceptional is the authenticity in each dish. The spices are balanced perfectly, offering just the right amount of heat and depth of flavor without overwhelming the palate. A perfect example of this balance is the dal makhani, slow-cooked to perfection, its creamy texture and smoky undertones showcasing the chef’s expertise. The tandoori dishes are another highlight, cooked in a traditional clay oven that infuses each piece of meat with a smoky richness that's hard to find elsewhere.

A unique touch of Maharaja Of India is its emphasis on fresh ingredients. Each dish is prepared using locally sourced produce, which enhances the natural flavors. The kitchen staff works tirelessly to create meals that are not only delicious but also nourishing, bringing you the finest quality of Indian food. For those who are vegetarian, the restaurant offers a variety of delightful options such as aloo gobi and chana masala, both bursting with bold, aromatic spices.

For dessert, the gulab jamun and rasgulla stand out as the perfect sweet endings to an Indian feast. The gulab jamun, soaked in syrup, is delicately sweet without being overpowering, while the rasgulla provides a light, spongy texture that’s simply irresistible.

Maharaja Of India also excels when it comes to customer service. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and always ready to recommend something based on your preferences. They make sure each guest feels welcome and at home, providing an experience that goes beyond just great food.

One of the most remarkable aspects of Maharaja Of India is its consistent high ratings across review platforms. Many regulars and first-time visitors alike rave about the restaurant’s ability to maintain the quality of food and service over time. Whether you're a seasoned fan of Indian cuisine or just discovering it, the reviews are clear-this is a place you’ll want to revisit.

In terms of location, the restaurant is situated in a prime spot, making it easy to find and perfect for grabbing a bite after a day of sightseeing or shopping in the area. The bustling Charing Cross Road adds a dynamic energy to the experience, and the convenience of its location makes it a great choice for those staying nearby or exploring the city.

From the welcoming atmosphere to the flavorful dishes and impeccable service, it’s a place where great food meets an incredible experience. • I was in London and decided to try some Indian food. I found this charming little restaurant with an extensive menu that included not only classic Indian dishes but also a few specialties from Iran and Afghanistan. Our server, Nayem, was welcoming and polite. We ordered the lamb biryani, chicken tikka masala, and garlic naan. The food arrived quickly and was perfectly spiced, just as we requested. Everything was absolutely delicious, much better than most Indian food we’ve had in the U.S. The portions were typical for Europe, and the prices were reasonable for what we received. The restaurant was clean and well ventilated unlike many Indian restaurants where you leave smelling funky. Nayem provided excellent service throughout our meal. I highly recommend this restaurant and shout out to Nayem. I will definitely return the next time I’m in London.

  • Maharaja of India is an authentic Indian restaurant located at Charing Cross Road The Mutton Jalfrezi dish I ordered was rich and flavorful, with a thick, satisfying gravy that truly delighted my taste buds. But, the biryani rice was a bit hard and didn’t quite meet my expectations. And the Mutton portion is too small. The restaurant offers a cozy environment with a warm and inviting atmosphere, though the restroom could use more frequent cleaning. Nayem, a Bangladeshi staff member, served my food with great politeness and helpfulness. He patiently took my order and explained the different flavor profiles to suit my preferences. Throughout the meal, he also came by to ask if I needed anything, which made the dining experience even more pleasant.

  • Our server, Nayem, was very kind. Honestly, this place is better than Dishoom. It is more authentic and definitely not a tourist trap like Dishoom is. The flavors and portions were amazing, especially the garlic naan. Loved that you could taste the garlic and it was fluffy! Absolutely, worth it. Note it's best for smaller groups or solo.
